Part I: Sephora
Sephora, Space NK, and Ulta Beauty provide yearly birthday gifts to their customers. This series of posts will attempt to answer all your questions about the 2018 release schedule, how to sign up for them, and how to redeem them. These are the things I wanted to know when I found out about birthday gifts, so I hope they help you as well. yvettemypet: doing the work so you don’t have to!
How to Sign Up
You must sign up for a Sephora Beauty Insider account. There are three tiers based upon spending. However, birthday gifts are available to all Sephora customers as long as they have an account.
How to Redeem
No purchase is necessary to redeem a Sephora Birthday Gift. You’ll get an email about two weeks out telling you that it’s available and running down your options.
In-Store: provide the email attached to your Beauty Insider account at the check out counter. Don’t feel shy if you aren’t buying anything. Just take a deep breath and say, “Hey! I’m here to redeem my birthday gift!” and they’ll ask for an email address. That’s it.
Online: you will be prompted by a pop up to add your gift once you click on your cart. This is an excellent time to add Sephora to your whitelist if you have a popup blocker. If you don’t get a notification by some adblock issue, you can add it manually by clicking on Redeem Your Rewards in My Basket. See the screenshot below.
What Will I Get?
You can choose one of the three options below. Unlike some programs that rotate quarterly, Sephora’s sets are available all year. Each year there are three choices.
- Mini Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Chai (.05oz/ 1.55 g)
- Mini Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Glacé (.031oz/ .89 g)
- Agave Lip Balm (.018oz/ .50 g)
- Agave Sugar Lip Scrub (.018oz/ .50 g)
- Mini Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo (1 fl oz/ 30mL)
- Mini Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Conditioner (1 fl oz/ 30mL)
- SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment (0.5 oz/ 15 g)
- GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow (0.5 oz/ 15 mL)
What Else Should I Know?
Sephora’s system tends to lag a bit so make sure you sign up for your Beauty Insider account at least a month before your birthday since emails go out about two weeks prior to the date.
Sephora shops inside JCPenney participate.
Which One Did I Choose?
This year was a tough choice. I’ve already tried all these offerings. When you’re a die-hard Sephora shopper, you get a lot of gifts with purchase and anything you don’t get in that manner comes from Sephora PLAY! boxes if you a subscriber. I went with the BITE Beauty set because I’m not a fan of GlamGlow and I already have enough Bumble and Bumble products.
Let’s look at the set:
Yep. They are very similar. The Amuse Bouche is a bit darker and hair warmer. You get that cool cast with most pink mattes as you can see with Glacé.
